21 Book Inspired Costumes

As you know, our family is a bit book-obsessed.  So it should come as no surprise to anyone that our family likes to dress up like characters from our favorite books and fairy tales! Last year, Molly was Cinderella and her Daddy was her, "Pwince Chawming."  Don't you love her 'dwess'?  (Monday, I will post a giveaway for one of the fabulous costumes from Little Dress Up Shop).

The boys and I were Harry Potter, Ron, and Hermione.

One year, after we read Peter Pan to the children, they decided we should all be the characters from Peter Pan. Daddy even turned our stroller into a pirate ship!  We had Peter Pan, Captain Hook, The Tic-toc Croc, Wendy, and Tinkerbelle.

While I was looking for this year's ideas for our family's costumes, I came across 21 wonderful book-inspired costumes I wanted to share with you!  I hope you find something that catches your imagination.  Some of these are homemade costumes with directions, some are just pictures, and a few are for items to purchase.

I love seeing all these home made costumes! We did Angelina Ballerina last year. It was easy as making a tutu. We found the mouse ears and tell for $3 at a store plus the dance leotard she already owned. I love how your family does an entire theme together!

Love these ideas. These are great for World Book Day too. Most UK schools have a day when they have to dress up as a book character.

Thanks for sharing my rainbow fish costume.

What a wonderful selection of activities - I've pinned this for world book week as children in the UK have to dress as their favourite book characters for the day. Thank you for linking up to Tuesday Tots last week and just letting you know that I will be featuring this over on Rainy Day Mum this week.

2 years ago my daughter was "Gretel" from Hansel and Gretel, and last year she went as " The Little Princess" ; both were very, very cute.

Thank you for your comments! I love hearing from the readers of my blog. It makes my day! I have recently had a lot of inappropriate spam that has snuck through, so I am turning on the moderation of comments for a short time, to see if it helps. I am so sorry for any inconvience this may cause, but I want to remain a family friendly blog. -Danielle @Mommy and Me Book Club
